Not Just History. A Responsibility.

Black History Month reminds us to pause, reflect, and honor the legacy of Black leaders, communities, and changemakers that have carried faith, hope, and courage through generations. At Star Gospel Mission, we see this legacy not as a moment in time, but as a living responsibility: to love, serve, and restore lives today, just as Christ calls us to do.

Jesus taught us that love is not just a feeling, it is action. “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40). Faith and justice have always walked hand-in-hand, and the Black church has long been a place of refuge, hope, and advocacy laying a foundation for resilience and restoration. At Star Gospel Mission, we strive to carry forward that calling by serving our neighbors with dignity, compassion, and faith.

Black History Month is more than reflection; it is a call to action. Each meal served, word of encouragement, and step toward restoration is a way we live out the responsibility entrusted to us. We celebrate the courage, resilience, and faith of those who came before us. We honor their legacy by living it today through our mission and through the power of Christ’s love.
